Tareekh e farishta (also known as Gulshan-i Ibrahimi) is a comprehensive history of India from the earliest times to the reign of Akbar the Great, written by Muhammad Qasim Hindu Shah Firishta (1560-1620).
Background
Firishta was born into a family of scholars in Daulatabad, Deccan, India. He received a good education in Persian, Arabic, and Islamic theology. He also studied the history of India and the Deccan.
The Tareekh e farishta
Firishta began writing the Tarikh-i Firishta in 1596. He completed it in 1610. The work is divided into twelve volumes. The first ten volumes cover the history of the different regions of India. The eleventh volume covers the history of the Deccan. The twelfth volume covers the history of the Muslim saints of India.
Significance
